Committees, are a formal body composed of community members (usually 5-7 members)
created for a specific purpose to help the masjid operations and community activities and
approved by the board. The committee maintains an approved scope of work and
plans/executes/reports on its activities The committee has a board point of contact to facilitate
any approvals and expenses. To serve as a committee member, you must be 18 years or old and
a registered member of ISNJ. The committee members are based on volunteers showing
interest in that area of work and can commit 8-10 hours per month.
Volunteers, on the other hand, are not restricted by number or need to be registered.
Furthermore, volunteering does not mean a huge time commitment. Even a few hours a month
can make a big difference. There are tasks to fit your time schedule and interest. We even have
tasks that don’t involve leaving your house so anyone can be involved
